It's not necessarily a goofy idea -- something like it is used in 
some pattern generator machines to make chrome masks for 
semiconductor processing.

The trick would be, of course, determining the output spectrum and 
intensity and the exposure/spectral requirements (mJ/cm^2) of the 
photoresist you're using.
