Sometimes.

Put a chip in and clamp down the lever.

Push the chip back and forth sideways (push hard) so that the pins
slide and grind along the contacts holding them.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
