Has anyone tried this?

2006-12-18 by Brian Gracia

Hello,

I just joined this group because I am getting back into
electronics. I was using my Google Fu to search the web on how a
hobbist can do smt boards at home. While searching, I came
across some companies that showed small cnc machines like the router
type that had a small needle in place of the router. The machine
deposited various liquids on the boards like solder paster and
silkscreen paste and epoxy encapsulation resin.

My question is has anyone tried this method with photoreactive
resin? They use it to make stamps for scrapbook images amoungst
others. Here is a link: http://www.granthams.com
He sells kits. Their are other sites on the net where you can
purchase this resin.

I have not built my cnc machine yet, I do have the electronics and
motors from HobbyCNC built. I am in between jobs so held off to make
the money last. I was thinking about putting this stuff in a syringe
with a small needle, where the point had been machined flat, and
using a cnc to deposit a small thin layer on the board. Then all you
should have to do is stick it under light. Etch and then use a
plastic brillo pad to remove the rubber.
