I have easily removed most of the rust on steel tools from the HCl
fumes with a metal polish, Autosol. It is quick, and needs only some
elbow grease. I guess it may have some ammonia in it, as well as
polishing compound and petroleum distillates. Any way, it works well.
So far everything looks almost as good as new after the polish. I was
lucky to catch this within 24 hours or less.
