They're relatively common, but suffer from glazing of the rubber paper-handling rollers. That's often the reason they're thrown out, but it's very easily fixed by roughening up the rubber rollers with cigarette-lighter petrol (not butane!). I've got an HP LaserJet 4+ that I got from the Bristol FreeCycle mailing list.
