Homebrew PCBs

I was reading some posts on the reynolds release foil - did anyone
ever try etching a board after transferring? If so, how did it go?
What printer/etc? I saw someone had problems with bubbling after
transferring - possibly overheating? the foil would transfer the heat
faster and better than paper.. just speculation, I have a handful of
boards to make and don't want to invest $15 in photo paper (no inkjet).
