Homebrew PCBs

Just to throw a thought out that I have not seen mentioned on the
list. I am wondering if it would be possible to use some kind of
sandblasting technique to etch circuit boards.
 
Some issues  that come to mind for me are how good a resolution can be
achieved, what kind of resist could you use that would last long
enough to remove the copper and what kind of abrasive could you use.

Anyone have any experience with frosting glass using sandblasting
techniques?

Again just throwing a wild idea out there to see what others may think.
