I mean not everything that's black has the same emissivity. It's maybe good if you need to measure the same thing often, you know if it works for that, and better meters can even be adjusted to the constants of the surface you are looking at. But for a general purpose quick check meter it doesn't seem good - since you can never be quite sure if it isn't a lot off on this surface. ST
