Fairlight-CMI

Hello all, 

All this talk about unknown connections reminded me of some non-original
connectors 'round the back of my IIx. Please check the photo:

The rectangular white connector is what I'd call a "field installed" mod,
since the hole for it was cut out in a sloppy manner. As the photo shows,
it's a 6 conductor, with only 4 pins apparently installed (the one just
above the serial number plate).

The other connector appears to be a printer port (blue connector, lower
edge)? 

Both are, unfortunately, unlabeled.

I have not popped the rear panel off to trace the connections (not brave
enough yet!). I do not have any optional cards installed other than the
General Interface MIDI/SMPTE box.

Any insight into these would be most appreciated.

Looks like a power connector, possibly for an external SCSI device ?

No, it is a 50-pin 'centronics' scsi connector. If you count the pins,
you'll end up with 50. CMI printer ports are DB25 female connectors,
the same ones you find on the back of a PC.

Likely external storage connectors. My 2 cents :)
Possibly +5 and +12 volts on the square connector.

Hi Daniel,

To me, your CMI has been modified to use an external 8" Floppy drive...
