Fairlight Not used in Recording ZZTop on ebay

2012-12-02 by greg thurman

This machine on ebay claims that
(For fun, I will add that this CMI was sold to me as having belonged to ZZ Top. There are no markings to confirm that and I have no idea if it is true, but it's fun to believe it.)

This machine was sold to the current owner in 2007 from a gent named Peter in the UK.
I personally owned the machine ZZTop used from Ardent in Nashville where they recorded there hits. I sold it Erik from New York. I kept all the good ZZTop sounds, most are on streaming tape. Funny, I purchased a external streamer and it didn't work so I still have all of these ZZ tapes and have not heard them.
Does anyone have any internal or maybe external streamers for a Series III to sale?

If I wouldn't buy my flat, that could have been my machine...

Peter's on this list, not Sure if that was Colin that bought it or someone
else...

This machine on ebay was sold to the current owner in 2007 from a gent named
Peter in the UK and was not ZZTop's machine.
Again this was not ZZ Top's machine as I sold ZZTops machine personally
to someone from New York but kept all the sound streamers and backups.
Greg

So? What are you trying to say? It's not a Fairlight?

Honestly, may be pretty much licentia poetica of the seller to gain the
interest, does that really bother you?

Hi Greg,

I am the previous owner of the machine that is now on eBay. The gentleman I bought this from, Erik in New York, in 2002, informed me of the possible ZZ Top history.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

Cheers,
Peter

I am the seller of the Series II on eBay.
It looks like we now have confirmation that my machine is from ZZ Top. Of course, it appears Greg kept all the ZZ Top sounds so it doesn't much matter.

Thanks, Peter, for the clarification. It seems to be beyond Greg's powers of logic and reasoning that the person he sold his Fairlight to might have later sold it to someone else, so I am glad that you chimed in.

Cheers!

Hey Peter, that's Great, and Kyle, sorry I kept the real vaule of the machine, The SOUNDS?
I was thinking of keeping the machine but It was not that big a deal as I already had another series III. The good thing for everyone else is I may in the future make some of the ZZTop sounds avalible to users in this group.

Good Day,
