Fairlight III service in Europe

Fairlight III service in Europe

2012-04-24 by David

My Series III needs sorting out a bit. Won;t boot and the display card seems iffy (could be the cable!)
Anyway, is there someone near me who could check it out?
Thanks

Hi David,

Maybe the two are related ? Have you tried re-seating the display card ?
Did you move the unit ?

Also, it it could be the cable, then there could be a short or a blown fuse.

I'm near Genk.
Not a technician though.

Regards,
Harald.

Hi David. A quick way I use to test mono graphics is to make up a 10-way IDC connector to RCA plug, and use this to plug into the AV video input of a television. Plug this lead into the Q-219 card, and you're bypassing all the CMI graphics leads and monitor. The connections are pin 7 hot, pin 8 cold. This also works for a IIX which uses the same graphics card.

Hope this is helpful,

Thanks Peter. Appreciate it.
If I find time, I'll have a go! I have a Series Iix so I guess I can trade graphic cards too. The main issue is that the III won't boot anyway

Hi Harald.
No, the Series III wouldn't boot before the graphics had problems.
I reseated all the cards previously but still no joy.
Thanks anyway
David
