Difference in series I to II channel cards ..

2012-03-23 by horiprod

Hi All

There were quite a few revisions of channel cards for the Fairlight series I and II / IIX. Looking at a few here, the earlier series I cards were labelled plain CMI-01 (rev #), the later series II cards CMI-01-A (rev #). A quick way of telling whether I or II is that the I has only 1 multiturn pot facing out of the cardcage, whereas the later II cards had 7.

Hope this is helpful,

...Unless it is a CMI01 Rev 9 card, which looks exactly like some revision of a CMI01A complete with DBX 2150 and Curtis filters.

Yes, it was very sunny here today. :-P

Hi,

I have only seen CMI-01 Rev 5 and 8 cards which are for the series 1. The Rev 5 cards have a cream coloured circuit board and the Rev 8 cards are the traditional green colour. There aren't any filters on these cards as the series 1 software doesn't support a filter.. As far as I am aware the last revision of software which works with the series 1 is Rev 11. I am very interested in hearing the difference between a Series 1 and a Series 2 X with the same sound loaded and using the 8 individual outputs on each mainframe. Perhaps Peter Wielk has done this comparison ?

Cheers,

James
