Trouble with my IIx....

2010-02-10 by tootith

Hi,

I recently moved my CMI IIx from my former college to my home. It hasn't been used in probably two years. When I try to boot it up, it merely says "Cannot load CMI.SY." I have 3 system disks: An original from 1985, one that I got from Virtual Music in 2005, and a back-up.

Using the original, the CMI displays "System disk faulty"
Using the two newer ones, it displays "Cannot load CMI.SY."

Do I simply have 3 bad system disks? Or is something else wrong with the machine? It loads QDOS and the Stavewriter just fine. When I try to load the Film Music Processor, using two original copies from Fairlight, it says "software security violation" (whatever that means).

The first thing I did was pull and re-install all the cards in the machine since it was recently moved. No effect. Switching the disk drives (using the invert switch) has no effect either.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Fredric
