While on the topic of pen tips (better term? :-)) I hate the way the
Series III pen feels on the tablet device - it's almost the
equivalent of fingernails on a chalkboard for me. There's no
annoying sound, but the feel is just awful because of the completely
flat tip - sometimes its edge will scrape the surface. Kind of like
using a pencil-tip eraser when the eraser is gone.
Does anyone know if it's OK to round off the tip of the pen so it
feels nicer on the tablet digitizer surface? I don't want to risk
ruining mine in case the digitizer technology relies on a "normal-to-
the-surface" pen orientation.
Finally, does anyone know if it's safe for me to hook up my PC
serial port directly to the back of the CMI music keyboard (into the
Preh alpha keyboard port)? I'd like to try using my PC keyboard and
mouse to control the CMI (I know I'll need additional software such
as CMI Control to send the data). The alpha keyboard port is serial
9600 baud but what worries me is that the keyboard and tablet need
to get their power from somewhere, thus I assume it comes through
the serial connection to them. I don't want that power to wind up
frying either the PC or CMI if the serial port is non-standard in
some way (e.g. 1000 volts on pin 8 :-)).
Thanks for any info!
