Re: [Fairlight-CMI] Hi all - Global Meeting 2004

2003-10-18 by Greg Holmes

Colin,

Sounds good!

As mentioned, I am in an area with many hotels and convention facilities
(Niagara). No doubt, most have broadband. I can look into the rough
costs in the next week. Audio is more important than video, I'm sure
you'll agree!

As you said, firm plans don't need to be made until the attendees are
established. We can determine the scale of the venue at that point. I'm
happy to host a small group at my place! A more ambitious alternative is
to place the North American venue in, say, New York City, but that would
be out of my hands.

However, the first thing to find out is how many would be interested in
a North American meeting. With sufficient interest here, I'm sure that
there could be media coverage and high-profile Fairlight owners as well.
(Hey -- I think that EVERYONE who owns a Fairlight is high-profile!)

Due to the ~5 hour time difference, the two meetings would run
independantly for most of the day, overlapping at around 4pm to 8pm UK
time (11am to 3pm our time). Communications costs should be acceptable.

Comments?
