You're right. Using the TurboSCSI card requires major backplane
and wavesuper mods (if you have Rev1). 
(However, you can run Rev11 software without the TurboSCSI option,
as long as you can live with a limited number of simultaneous MDR 
tracks.) In any case, a Rev1 wavesuper needs "new" GALs + firmware
and 4MB RAM. (It might be really difficult to find the right RAM
chips, though. There is a jumper on the Rev1 wavesuper card which
needs to be set for 1MB/4MB.)
I have the Rev2 wavesuper (which is probably the best solution).
