Sequencer upgrade question

Sequencer upgrade question

2014-08-13 by sonofspy777@...

Hi,I checked my VFX-SD and it only has the original 25,000 sequencer notes availableDoes anyone know what ICs are used for the sequencer memory upgrade?If they are available from electronic parts suppliers it seems silly to pay $40-$50for two of them...TIA-Alan

The specific parts used by Ensoniq were NEC uPD431000 with, IIRC, 70ns access time; these are no longer made, but they are fundamentally 128kx8bit SRAM circuits in a 32-pin DIP (or PDIP) package. You need a pair of them.

I think something like this should do it:

Same package, 55ns access time so should be more than fast enough.

Best wishes,

// Christian

$50 bucks for 2Mb of memory = Highway Robbery2 chips with identical specs @$2.05 each = $4.10 from Mouser Electronics...Any questions?-Alan

How do you tell if your sequencer memory has been expanded? I am in the process of doing/having some work done to my Ensoniq SD-1.

1) The Data slider broke during a move and needs to be replaced :-(

2) The battery has lasted a lot longer than I am sure it was ever intended to last (I looked last weekend... no corrosion... whew...

3) I currently have version 3.0 of the OS and I am contemplating an upgrade to OS 4.10... Need to get the OS chips for that (have the disc already)

        a) Does anyone know what added features/benefits 4.10 offers over 3.0?

Clear your sequencer and then go into the sequencer and see how many events you have left.
If it is under 30K that's stock. If it is over 70K it has been expanded.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
