That was CHEEEEEEEAP :O Lucky You!!
As I remember, the VFX-series uses the Phillips 1541 converter. The SD's the 1542 (less noisy), a little more distortion (inaudioble btw.)
The SD's probably run on the same ~39 KHz sampling rate, allthough it might have been 44.1. Not 100% sure about that.

Subject: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Had VFX & now an SD-1......question on differences I hear & feel....
I just received the SD-1/32 I scored on Ebay for $132....didn't
realize it was a 32 until after I won when I noticed a red bar in the
photo under the SD-1 logo. And it works! Here are some differences
between this SD-1/32 and the VFX I have had for a few years.....
- Key action is a lot looser on the SD-1 than the VFX....actually, non
of my keyboards feel as soft as the SD-1. Not a bad soft....just low
key spring pressure than other keyboards.
- Aftertouch is definitely not as sensitive as my VFX....I tried with
a few patches I had designed with noticeable aftertouch and they just
don't seem to be affected as much with aftertouch on the SD-1
- Have no clue what OS version the SD-1 is at...can the OS be loaded
via floppy instead of PROM like the VFX? What is the latest OS and
what keystrokes to see?
- It is DEFINITELY much quieter, hiss wise, than the VFX was. I also
sounds a bit cleaner....maybe too clean and I might have to adjust
some of my presets like the overdrive organ.....
- Can decide if I will sell the VFX yet.....
