MAQ 16/3 sync problem

MAQ 16/3 sync problem

2014-06-05 by JenkinsC01@aol.com

I have two MAQ 16/3s. One will sync fine to a MIDI clock from Cubase SE3. The other refuses to do so - it will start, but won't keep steady time. I've tried switching cables. mergers and so on, but it does seem to be a problem with the MAQ itself. Its firmware is V3.50, while the one that works fine is V3.70.
Is there any way to do a 'system reset' to see if this sorts itself out? Or should I get a firmware update done, or does this sound like a fault requiring repair?

Problem solved...

...it was the external power supply. I swapped it for a beefier one, and as if by magic, the MIDI sync works - plus as a bonus, the LED is brighter! Not surprising that an under-par power supply should affect the sync, but everything else worked fine with it - and it was the supply I got with the MAQ, and was theoretically in spec. It just goes to show, er, something...

Please contact Christian Assall (software@doepfer.de). He programmed the
MAQ16/3 firmware and knows if an upgrade may solve the problem.
