Bringing Doepfer LC9 cases from the US to EU

Bringing Doepfer LC9 cases from the US to EU

2013-07-28 by glitzerstrahlmusic

Hi Group!

This will be my first contribution after having lurked on the list for a while.

I have 2 Doepfer LC9 cases that I bought in the US (and filled with modules).
Now I'm about to move them to the EU (Sweden) permanently and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way I can continue to use these cases even though they have the north american PSUs (115v).

I guess one alternative would be to use a converter that can down-step the Swedish voltage from 220v to 115v, but if possible I would like to avoid this since I've heard it is not very stable and can create unnecessary stress on the components.

Any tips / information is greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

The supply with those cases has the transformer directly on the supply board. So you would need to replace the whole supply with a 230v model, change the fuse value and the label on the back so no chance of someone putting the wrong voltage through if you sell the case in the future or lend it or whatever. They do sell the right psu so it would be pretty much a straight swap. Look for a-100psu2. Thomann.de have them for 98 euro. Depending on how old your cases are it may be a bit of an upgrade-the cylindrical transformers are better than the rectangular ones, 1200ma instead of 650ma

Please refer to the FAQ page of our website:

for another mains voltage (115V or 230V), for experts only !

Best wishes

Fantastic! Thank you all so much!
This looks like a pretty straight forward operation, but I will make sure to consult with a friend who is a certified electrician.

Yes,

As D. Doepfer pointed out, the info is on their website. It's quite simple. I did the same to mine, only the other way around (UK to US).
