Doepfer 6U Suitcase making sounds

2013-05-30 by codotinc

Hi Doepfer team --

My 6U Suitcase has recently started making a sound when any module is sent out to mixer or my 3U skiff. It's a small, higher-frequency white noise-ish kind of sound. I removed each module one by one to test to see if they were causing it, but it is definitely the suitcase.

I do have an A-199 Spring Reverb module, and I know that they can sometimes cause noise, but I disconnected this module both from the power and pulled the RCAs from the tank. I did not go so far as to completely remove the tank and the cables from the suitcase though.

I can upload a sample of the sound if it helps, but in the meantime, any suggestions as to what might be causing this? It's very distressing, as it completely ruins the sound of my synthesiser.

Cheers,
Jon

If the sound was not present earlier I'm quite sure that you have changed
the type of wiring between the A-100 and the rest of your equipment
(including mains connections). If that's not the case maybe the power supply
is faulty and has to be repaired - but I don't think so.

Best wishes
