Stereo cables vs mono

Stereo cables vs mono

2011-09-19 by Rudy

Can I arm the sockets of my modules by using stereo jacks instead of mono?
I found a stack of stereo cables at the dollar store for 1 cdn dollar each. And they are 2meters long. They seem to do the job. Advice please?

As far as I know the sockets in the doepfer modules use in fact the ring
contact of a stereo cable for ground (Dieter may correct me if I am wrong).

This does not matter if you use mono cables. Stereo cables should work
fine as long as you stay within the doepfer world. But connections to
other gear with 3,5mm sockets will fail assumingly due to the missing
ground.

Exactly. Within the A-100 it will work but the stereo cables cannot be used
for external connections.

Thank you for the info. When you mention "Doepfer world" do you mean also eurorack world?
