A-110 problems

A-110 problems

2010-11-25 by skp_pete

I've had my A-100 synth (started with basic system mini) since new only 5 months ago....

Yesterday after switch on, one of my A-110 osc sounded like it had random voltages going on inside?
It sounded really sick in the guts

no patch leads apart from the osc output so was definately something not right....

my other A-110 was and is fine.

after fraking out for a coupla minutes, i plugged a lead into CV1, and everything's fine. Take the lead out and everything is fine.

The same thing happened again today about 1-2 hours after start up.

the osc goes all sick sounding ..... i plug an unconnected lead into CV1 breifly and everything is fine for the rest of the day (another 8 hours)

what gives???

any help or experience??

thanks

[Doepfer_a100] Example power consumption: +12V with +5V converter and +5V directly

Today I don't wat to bitch around but show you a real world example
of the difference between a +5V with a dedicated power supply and
+12V with an on board +5 converter. Someone at Muffs bypassed the on
board +5 converter on a Piston Honda from The Harvest Man:

<quote>
took my piston down from 140mA on the +12 to 10-15mA.

Obviously he measured in the wrong way. Can't be.

the cv1 jack is normalled to the cv bus,
maybe there is something wrong with the
jack itself or with its bus connection?

best wishes

thanks for the help

i bet youre right

i'll double check the plug to the bus board ( cant imagine those plugs come loose )

otherwise i can prob visually check the jack i guess from the back?

it was on all day today with no issues

yes, try to check the jack from the back.
i have heard of one guy, who had a tiny bit
of dust in a jack, which caused funky things,
so check for that too, also on the pcb.

good luck :)

Re: A-110 problems

i ignored this issue for all this time and it eventually got worse!
so i made the effort to have real close look at the jack for cv1, and yes, the metal part of the jack that is supposed to 'close' when the plug is taken out wasnt doing its thing.

so a small amount of force on the metal tab on the jack ( so it close's properly ) was the fix!!

just for the record
