hi list,

its November now....

any nice modular patching ideas to share?

modular knowledge to share and spread?

best regards,
Bakis.

I have 2 simple tips:

If you get stuck with the same old patches try putting CV in all you
audio inputs and audio into your CV. Doesn't work with everything as it
depends on DC coupling etc but in can reveal new sounds

another one: make patches using feedback loops in the the place of VCOs
- new worlds appear!!

cheers

and the a138m matrix mixer is the module that begs for complex and multiple feedback loops!

One I was playing with at the weekend was taking the 2 post out CVs of an
A-155 sequencer into the two inputs of one half of an A-150 switch. Patch
the output from the gate row of switches on the 155 to the CV input of the
150. A-150 output to your quantizer and VCO etc.

This setup lets you gradually change from the top sequence row to the bottom
by flipping the gate switches at each stage. You could also switch the A-150
randomly using an A-117 digital noise source into an S&H clocked by the same
clock source that you're using to run the sequencer to get a randomish mix
of the 2 rows.

Basic stuff I know, but fun nonetheless.

Bakis - would you care to share a couple of examples? I have this module but it tends to get used just for offsetting CVs and mixing LFO outputs. If you could let me have a couple of starting points for feedback madness then I'd appreciate it!

Cheers

Rich

hi Rich,
well, the uses for feedback loops are countless, but let me make just one mental patch example:
let's say you connect a111 vco1 and a11 vco2 to inputs 1 and 2 of the a138m. then you take output A (of the a138m) to the input of the a108 filter. then you take output B to the linear FM input of a111 vco2. then you take one of the filter outs of the a108 (say 24db LP) to the input3 of the a138m. (now the linear fm input of a111 vco2 is modulated by both vco's and the filter's signal too!) and then the output D can go to the symmetry input of the a137 that you just patched after the a108 filter. many feedback loops, lots of crazyness....

more crazyness? patch the output of a137 (via a multiple so you still have the final output from the a137) to input 4 and then patch outputC to the (attenuated) cv input of one of the two vco's....

of course, each of the a138m outputs (A, B, C, D) will have the mix of inputs of your choice, via the a1378m knob settings)
