Shielding for A-199 Spring Reverb

Shielding for A-199 Spring Reverb

2009-12-31 by okmog

Hello World!

I want to buy a A-199 Spring Reverb module and have red that it must be placed as far as possible away from the PSU2 because of electromagnic coupling.

Has anyone of you already tried to shield the spring box with Mumetal? There are Mumetal coated folies available on ebay for a couple of euros with 0.1 mm thickness. Would 0.1 mm be enough if the distance to the PSU2 would be about 30 cm, for example?

Mumetal (iron/nickel mixure) has a very high magnetic permeability and is very efficient for electromagnetic shielding.

I would appreciate any comments!

Olli

That sounds interesting! I have the reverb tank of mine outside my suitcase
with PSU2.
And that still makes way to much noise for my liking.

Not having my head with this mail...ehmmm outside the case it is fine. But
inside with psu2 it is still too noisy for my taste.

Hi Ernst,

Good to know, thank you! Which case are you using.
If you have a custom made case: From which material is it made of and thick is it?

Happy New Year,
Ollie

Hey Ollie,

Happy new year! I use the standard
*A-100P6<http://www.doepfer.de/a100p_e.htm#A100P6>
 *
I haven't even bothered to try them in my G6 cases with psu1 ;-)

The P6 is a standard lightweight flightcase made with plywood I guess.
