saw this on em411.com..(from jan '02) http://www.em411.com/interview-show.php?interview_id=21 one interesting note is mention of a new motorized regelwork for future release. -duff

For the sake of god... Dieter, please do not spend time on this. To me this sounds like repainting a bicycle with flat tires. Sure it makes it a bit nicer but still it is a bumpy ride until you fix the flat. All analogies intented with all lines of xxxwerk machines. /Andreas ----- Original Message -----

It's interesting, because the User's Manual for the current Regelwerk discusses the concept of motorized faders, and then dismisses the concept as being too expensive to implement. Instead, the user has to manually move a fader until a blinking LED stops blinking, indicating that the fader has reached the current value of the corresponding parameter. I wonder what prompted the change of heart? Perhaps there's a lot of interest in the new Mephisto synth, which will have motorized knobs for the same reason. I've been trying to use the Regelwerk as a Matrix 1000 programmer (not very successfully), so the problem with the idea, aside from the expense, is that it won't work for me unless the software is updated to allow remote sysex parameters to be "catch"ed in this way, rather than just midi continuous controller values. Exactly... the problem with the usablitity of the unit is more a question of software, memory and such than new hardware. These oversights pop up just about everywhere you look, there are tons of buttons which is a good thing, but without functionality to motivate them all. If there is one piece of hardware that could be updated it would be the LCD which is on the smallish side.
