I was just joking of course. Still even for four sounds, it's a lot of cables!!!

I especially like Paul's (POSMOS) series showing the evolution of his
A100.

I started out the same way, with the modules from the "Mini Basic
System" configuration in a 6U frame. I thought it was a good idea at
the time, and its gratifying to know that someone else thought so too.

P.S. I hope this isn't a duplicate. I posted it earlier but it seems
to have gotten lost.

Starting out...

2002-03-10 by Andreas Lindholm

Regarding starting out on Doepfer. I started with an empty 6u frame a110 a
filter and the noice, VCA and an LFO. I wanted to process external sounds.
Then I have folloewed that path with vocoder and external env input. Then I
didn't want to fill up the box with midi-cvs and went regelwerk. That is as
you all know something I regret a lot. A simple midi-cv would have worked
and been much simpler and also a lot cheaper. This whole midi-cv biz
actually has stopped me in my a100 tracks. Now I know I have to do something
about it and I am unsure as if to get my first AS system (their midi-cv
seems better that the A100) or just go on A100 (like the new multislope
filter)...

BTW. I have my 6u housed in a custom made wooden cabinet with my other gear
(Roland JD990 and such) and I only have space for 3 more U of analog so I
have to scale things of good... or sell the regelwerk if there is anybody
dumb enough to buy it ;)

HI ANDREAS,
IF I HAD 150 EUROS TO SPEND ON MODULAR GEAR ,i would
go for the A127 triple vc resonance filter(i love
it!)or the A108 6...48db filter.if you want many
possibilities and strange sounds go for the A108!if
you want ever-evolving soundscapes,in an ambient
style, go for the A127!of course, that is only my
opinion...i don't know how the various AS filter
modules sound...i only have the A127 and the A108...
bakis.
p.s.:right now i'm downloading your track...i'll tell
you my opinion soon...

Please don't comment in public about that song. It is way old, but still I
like the simple Doepfer lead line. 150 euros won't go far... btw where did
you come up with that figure?

As it is now I am considering whether to spend 500 some to get Midi-cv of
some sorts or just sack my A100 for some time. No midi gives me pure
headache now.

Regarding MIDI/CV, have you thought about incorporating an Encore
Expressionist into your setup?

http://www.midiwall.com/gear/pro4-exp.html
http://www.encoreelectronics.com/

Not sure what you mean by "filling up the box with MIDI/CVs".

Re: [Doepfer_a100] Starting out...

Never heard of the expressionist before, nice unit. Sold out, but anyway a
bit too much for me. I need one or perhaps three channels of midi-cv at
most. What I meant by "filling my 6u" up was simply that since the case
itself is costly I initially didn't want to put in midi-cv modules when i
wanted more filters and stuff instead. I also had high hopes for the
regelwerk. I read the specs to positive a mistake which I have paid for
indeed. I interpreted "features 8 channels of cv and gate /.../ functions as
a midi and cv sequencer..." And read into that that it could do basic
sequencing and also interpreted it as "if it is digital and does both cv and
midi it ought to be capable of just passing midi notes to the cv outs to."
Great I thought and filled up my 6u with the vocoder and bought the
regelwerk... :.(

Now i know it had been much viser to just have bought a single midi-cv
module and sacrificed an A111 or something...

hi andreas,

because you mentioned the multislope filter(the
a108...)that's why...

hey andreas,
you can go for the kenton pro-2000!i have it ,it has
two channels of midi-cv plus 6 aux outputs that can
act as 3 more midi-cv channels(5 total!!!)as far as i
know it costs about 350 euros...(but if you think of
it,the doepfer mcv 24 gives you more for the
money...but,again you might not want to spend much)
i think it's the most cheap solution for your
needs(the pro-2000) with many additional features
also...
bakis.

Ignore this... just a clarification

2002-03-11 by Andreas Lindholm

The thing that irritates me with kenton is that they insist on putting the
outputs on the back and it get hopeless in the rack. Anyway my options are
as I stated, buy a new 3u with doepfer midi module or with AS midi-module.
As far as the multislope filter, it is something that I want to add some
day, not necessarily this year(all a matter of money). Or perhaps I just
wait another year and see if Doepfer does something to upgrade the
regelwerk...

And of course as I wrote before, I can always do nothing and just not look
at my A100(helps from frustration).
