It's very difficult to choose.    I looked at both your first system and 
the sound processing system you've put together (actually I revisited 
the list several times...) and pulled several ideas from it.   The main 
difference from your first system is the 3 VCO2's - I'd love more than 
one VCO - but I'm focusing more on sound processing vs. synth functions.   

I think the advice I'm looking for most from people on the list is where 
I may have chosen something that if I swapped it out for module 'x' - 
I'd have a lot more flexibility.    For example - if the mixer would be 
more handy than one of the VCA's.    In an ideal world - I'd just fill 
up my server cabinet with racks... ;)    If I love this thing as much as 
I think I will - I wouldn't be surprised if I fill up this rack quicker 
than planned and start thinking about a 2nd one... but for now - I'm 
taking small steps.   

I'm planning a rack instead of portable case.   I went round and round 
on that one and my wife had the best question - how often will you want 
to take it out to play a gig... twice in the next ten years?    In 
reality, she's probably right.   All the people I loved to jam with have 
moved away and I "retired" from bar gigs back in '98 (13 years on and 
off was enough...).  My last couple of electronic/ambient gigs I focused 
more on bass playing - it's a great instrument to jam with and when I'm 
playing with a couple of great ambient/textural synth players... adding 
bass  rounds things out so nicely.   Then again - I process my bass into 
oblivion on some tracks.   I'll do some more gigs, probably up in 
Chicago - but the Doepfer might not make the trip.   

The rack... I have a great old IBM 4997 server cabinet in my studio - my 
wife's work was throwing it away - could have kept the computers in the 
rack also... but... I didn't.    Sort of the perfect thing to be able to 
open up the door and have a great mass of knobs and cables... 

The A-108 and A-102 were also in the running for the 2nd filter.    I 
could get the A-108 in by dropping the little dual VCA and the WASP.   

I tried to pick as many of the VC versions of modules as possible.   The 
Wave Multiplier is in there because a number of people recommended it 
for sound sculpting.    I've been wanting a spring reverb back in my 
setup since I sold my old Peavey 6 channel head years and years ago - 
nothing like running something through it - with the out of the reberb 
back into a channel for controlled feedback - and then smacking the head 
to get the reverb rattling (not that I'm really planning to smack my 
Doepfer rack around...) 

Speaking of controlled feedback - it's one of my favorite things - I 
love the idea of the feedback input.  All of my current effects units 
are setup to go back into channels on my mixer to create feedback 
loops.   I should mention I love to use it fairly subtly - it appears in 
a lot of my music - but not in a screeching 'feedback' sort of way...

Anyway - yes - I'll be bugging Shawn some more when he's back from 
vacation.   I'm not ready to toss my credit card at them just yet - but 
it'll be fairly soon.    A hopefully decent bonus check coming up should 
make it a bit easier... we'll see... :)
