What in intended is that you're still going to need some VCOs , noise/random voltage, a couple mixers, LPF and HPF, some VCAs, ADSRs, LFOs, multiples. By the time you do that, you won't have much space left in your 6U frame if you're trying to keep it about the same size as the basic system.
