I think if the flange/chorus sound is working, then the BBD's working in general.  The delay effect isn't something different, it's the exact same effect only much slower.

In my opinion, once you get the delay clock knob below about half way, you get a bit too much signal degradation and clock noise.

Try a delay clock setting of about 5, with the feedback just shy of causing a feedback loop that gets louder each iteration, and the mix of half sounds good.

Bear in mind these delays will be very short, but they will be delays nonetheless.
