Should Doepfer release a small 8 step sequencer with the following inputs and outputs:

Inputs:
Start
Stop
Hold
Reset
Direction

Outputs:
CV 
Individual Gate-outputs a step
Trigger / Clock

I dont think it needs his own clock. 
So you will always need a external trigger to get it running. 
This way we the costs on the module. 
Assuming that everyone has a LFO with square output or something similar to drive the clock.

Maximal width would be around 14 HP.
