Hi Doepfer_a100 group,

I'm brand new to the A-100 system (and modulars in general), and this is my
first post to this group, so please forgive me for asking about something
that should probably be common knowledge.

Anyway, I recently purchased a secondhand A-100 system. I believe it is the
Basic System 2, although the modules might be arranged in a different
configuration than the standard factory configuration. I would be happy to
list all of the modules in the top and bottom rows if it is pertinent to
this issue.

As far as I can tell, everything seems to be working with the synth. I'm
looking forward to experimenting with all sorts of different kinds of
patches, but I figured I'd start out with the basic patch for the mini
system, the first example on this page:
http://www.doepfer.de/a100_man/a100_patch.htm. I made all of the necessary
connections, and then connected CV1 out from the A-190 midi/CV sync
interface to the CV1 input of the first VCO. This creates the basic synth
sound when I play my midi keyboard controller. It sounds good, but there is
one problem. This primary synth voice behaves as it should, and responds to
the note on/off signals that happen when I press and release keys, but
there seems to be another sustained voice that does not respond to the
note-off signals. I can tell that this "other" voice is also coming out of
VCO 1 because it changes pitch as I adjust the range and tune knobs of that
oscillator. I would like to make it so all sounds are silenced when I
release a key (at least for this initial patch).

Do you have any thought about why this isn't happening? I've been trying to
study the A-190 manual to see if that would help, but for that module's
manual there are no diagrams for how to make basic connections. Do I need
to connect the "Gate" output to something to get this "secondary" pitch to
stop? If so, what? None of the other ports I've tried seem to take care of
this. Or do I need to make some kind of setting with the button-controlled
"menu" on the A-190? Or is there some other patching connection that would
resolve this issue?
