I took a look an A-142 from our stock: The max. envelope time (i.e. Decay
control fully CW) should be approx. 10 seconds. The envelope time should
change to a minimum of ~ 2 ms in a exponential control scale. Probably the
module is misadjusted. Adjust the only trimming potentiometer on the pcb
(top right edge) so that the envelope time is ~ 10...20 seconds if the Decay
control is fully CW.

In addition I took a look at our records. There was a minor change early in
2006. The value of the resistor R6 was set to 120k (instead of 100k). If R6
is 100k there is a small dead range near the CCW position of the Decay
control. The control affects the envelope time not until ~ position 2 or 3
is reached. R6 is the resistor below the CV control (left to the word
"A-100" on the pc board). If you own an A-142 manufactured before 2006 this
dead range will occur.
