Original MIS FSN and Epson Glossy Photo Paper Testing
2005-07-01 by Johnny Eades
Being the sucker that I am and not afraid to throw caution to the wind, when I saw an ad in the local paper for Epson Glossy Photo Paper (buy one get one free); I jumped right on it. I do not usually use glossy paper but having just completed two paper curves for UT2 ink on Epson Heayweight Matte paper and H'muhle Photo Matte paper; I wanted to see how the Original MIS FSN inks would work with those papers also. I recalled reading that FSN would not work with glossy paper because it would rub off it. Disregarding that warning memory, I jumped in and did it anyway. FSN doesn't have the robustness of UT2 but can make a fine print if ihe ink/gamma is boosted in QTR. This seemed to work out fine. I haven't swiped my finger across the densest shadow yet. I want it to sit for a couple of hours, but the resulting image is very good. If it doesn't wipe off too easily, that may be another weapon (tool) in my arsenal (toolbox) to use with my photographic journeys. While this is drying I've just completed the UT2 ink paper curve for Epson Glossy Photo paper and am quite pleased with it also. Your friend in Photography, Johnny
