inks and papers

2005-02-25 by Michael C

Hello,

I am a photographer from the Cleveland Ohio area, and somewhat new
to this group. There is so many messages exchanged through this
group, that rather then searching for hours through archives, I
thought I would just ask.

I have jusr recieved my first MIS UT7 inkset for my Epson 2200. I
have ink left in the cartridges, but Im anxious to try these new
inks. Can I remove the color inks and successfully store the open
cartridges for later use? Also while reading over Paul Roark's
methods, I did not notice Epson Velvet fine art paper listed as a
recommended paper. I have this paper, will it produce good results?

One more question, when creating a Duotone or, even coloring one
part or object in a B&W photo, what is your recommendations?

Thanks for your time

I think velvet fine art is a real nice paper with great image quality,
and with MIS inks has a very nice smooth look. The texture does not
seem to get in the way especially with bigger 13x19 prints. the Texture
might be too obvious on smaller prints though. Some people have said
that it flakes too much, But I have not noticed that yet. All of the
prints I did with it went right under glass.
