Not on web site yet? QuadToneRIP version 2.1e

2005-01-13 by cengell

First off many thanks to you for you great inferface! I am sure
there are many of us that without your interface would not be using
QTR.

Thank You!

I see that 2.1e is not posted by Roy yet, I CAN'T wait to be able to
cal my QTR!.

Question Steve, when I use QTR 2.1d and I click on the centered
placement the image in the preview window is not centered and the
image on the paper is not centered also, the image is about 4-6 mil
from the top the end the paper comes out of the Epson 4000. I can't
say if it's the same as the preview window, I don't think so.

Any ideas...

Christopher

RE: [Digital BW] Not on web site yet? QuadToneRIP version 2.1e

2005-01-13 by Stephen Billard

The display is just a representation of the page and is scaled way down, so
it won't be 100% accurate. Centering is done by QuadToneRIP when it prints
and is independent of how QTRgui shows the image.

You didn't say what the image size was or how far off you think the
centering is. The other question is what size paper are you using?

QuadToneRIP version 2.1e -- Now Posted

2005-01-14 by Roy Harrington

It's now on the website.

This version has several new capabilities:

Many more TIFF file formats are now supported.
Grayscale and RGB files allowed. RGB is converted to grayscale.
Both 8 bit and 16 bit files allowed. Currently 16 bit is converted to 8 bit.
Alpha channels allowed. They are skipped over in the file.
Layers are allowed. Photoshop saves a composite version of the image.
All combinations of the above are OK.

The QTRgui has several enhancements for positioning of the image.

Foreign language characters are allowed since you no longer need
to use the old batch command processor.

Windows 2000 has been tested more rigorously.

Thank you, thank you. This software is getting even better. My
question is whether we should continue the practice of removing each
prior installation with QTRCleanout (found on Stephen Billard's
website) before downloading and installing the new one.

It is not necessary to remove the old software. However, this version of the
install gives you the option of installing (or not) the profiling tools. If
you don't intend to use these tools, uninstalling the old version will get
rid of them for you.

Post a message for Daniel Staver. He is working on the profile creating
stuff.

What is included in the install for now is just the processing programs. You
have to create a "script" for your profile.
