Epson Stylus Pro 4000

2004-09-16 by Steve Schaefer

I am thinking about getting at Epson 4000 instead of the 2200. Besides
getting Image print, is there any other viable option for getting neutral BW
prints from the 4000?

Also, I am more then interested in any general opinions you have about the
printer. I am trying to find out as much as I can before I plunk down the $1800.

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Another option for B&W is QuadToneRIP. The next release will include
support for the 4000 and it should be available very soon.

Carl thanks for the reply

I have a friend that is trying to configure the QuadTone RIP for his 2200, which he is finding difficult. I have heard the QuadTone RIP is not very user friendly and some times hard to configure properly. What is your take on all of this?

Also does the QuadTone Rib use the Epson's paper profiles or do you have to generate those on your own?

I do under stand that there is a huge difference between the coast of the QuadTone rip and Imageprint's rip

Again, thanks for you help.

I use the Mac version of QTR which is very easy to install and set up -
perhaps others will comment on the PC version. Once installed,
printing from QTR is no more complicated than using the epson driver
and certainly more intuitive. You can make your own profiles with QTR
(you can't do that with IP) or use those provided with the software or
by other users.
