CIS problem any suggestions?

CIS problem any suggestions?

2004-04-09 by foodfeak

Hi
Can any body help out? I have an Epson Photo 1290 with a CIS. The
problem is the red light is on and I can not print. If I remove the
CIS and put the Epson carts in all works OK.

Any suggestion

Thanks

Kirk

There may be a problem either with the way the MIS cartridges are
seated or the pertaining chips. Make sure they are pushed all the
way down and held securely by the tie wrap. Try this: push the
cartridge replacement button, then unplug the power after the
cartridges have moved all the way to the left. Try wiggling them,
just to make sure they are all the way down, even a 1/16" gap at the
bottom will keep the red light on. Push the cartridges all the way
to the right, then plug the printer back on. If this does not solve
the problem, you may have a bad chip in one of the cartridges or it
may have been damaged during installation. MIS may replace it for
you, or else you can order replacement chips, they are about $15
each.

Hope this helps
