MIS Eboni Black ink

MIS Eboni Black ink

2004-04-08 by Ronald Janowsky

Hello all,

I would like to do some BO printing with my Epson 2100 with
the Eboni Black from MIS. But I'm not sure what I need to do
that. Can I order 1) a simple cartridge with the ink from MIS
or do I have 2) to fill the ink myself into an empty cartridge?
If 2), what about the chip resetting? Do I have to order a
chip resetter too or is the cartridge equipped with
an always full chip?

At the moment I don't want to invest much money, because
normally I'm using ImagePrint and the prints are quite nice.
But BO printing seems to be a fine alternative approach. I did
some tests with Epson Matte Black - these prints are quite warm,
one could say brown and Eboni Black is much more neutral I think.

Thanks for all infos!

Yes. For my 2200 I order cart # ARC-T0348-K

Eboni is less warm than Matte Black on a given paper. It can be
anything from warm to neutral depending on the paper. The papers I
use with BO and Eboni ink, in order of warm to cool, are

Epson Velvet Fine Art - very warm
H. Photo Rag - moderate warm
Hawk Mtn Merlin Smooth - slightly warm
Hawk Mtn Condor BW - neutral, looks really black

Clayton

If you fall into the neutral camp you may also want to try out Premium
or Polar Matte from Red River
(http://www.redrivercatalog.com/browse/matte.htm). Test images I've
printed on the 60lb. Polar and 50 and 65 lb. Premium matte papers look
the same as those printed on Hawk Mtn Condor BW to my eyes.

I'm using only two papers - Epson EEM for the proofs
and PR 308 for the final output. In Germany it's not
so easy to get good papers. Perhaps I can find a dealer
and test the Hawk Mountain papers.

Thanks again,

Hello Jim,

>Premium or Polar Matte from Red River

I just contacted Red River. These papers are not 100% cotton, but
they do have others that are, the "Art" series, Polar, Aurora and Lux.
I ordered samples of these and I will include them in the paper
review article I'm working on for may web site. Thanks again for the
tip.

Clayton

Hi... a quick search of the archives didn't give me the answer to this question. Is it
possible to use Imageprint with an MIS Eboni black ink cartridge in place of the PK or
MK cart?
