List Diversity

2001-07-29 by grdglass@aol.com

Hi All,

Just joined. It's nice to see other Piezo list members here.
It would be nice if we could bring in users of other inks so that
this becomes more than just another Piezo list and we can get
a feel for the competition.

Martin, how do you feel about placing your "advertisement"
on the Epson list? If you are not a member, I could place it
for you. There are MIS, Generations, Lysonic, and Piezo (who
are not on the Piezo list) users there.

Regards,

Helene

Just joined the list, too. I am using MIS inks and
their CIS system on 1160. Hope to have some comments
and questions soon.

Hello Richard,

Which MIS inks are you using?

Hi Helene,

I'm using the original quadtone inks that MIS has had
on the market for some time. I see that now they are
bringing out some alternate color toning for the inks.
This might be interesting since the oringinal inks are
on the warm side but I think it will be quite a while
before I run out.

Generally speaking I have been pleased with the
reults. I have tried just about all of the workflows
suggested here and there. I am not sure that I have
finished testing the system yet (is one ever?).
Frankly, I get similar results to all the fancy
curves, transforms, etc. by just diddling with the
printer driver settings. However, I'm still searching
for the ideal.

I work out of Photoshop 6 and Picture Window 3.1.

Regards,
Dick

Richard,

Welcome to the list! Your participation is greatly appreciated. The
list was founded to open up discussion on all the alternatives out
there.

Your comments on your experiences with the MIS inks are important and
will be of great interest. The entire area of digital B&W is still so
small that few of us involved, much less the general public, have had
the opportunity to so see inkjet prints made using all the different
ink sets.

Thanks for coming!
