Picture in your mind those little rubber plugs used for the filler hole and the air vent hole in a refill cartridge. Easy to get out but hard to put back in. The more you press, the more the plug widens and it becomes almost impossible to insert in the hole.
Then I began to take note of the small hole in the plug. I straightened a paper clip (the large, heavier gauge variety) inserted it in the hole, and pushed the plug in. The plug didn't get wider, in fact narrowed a bit and the plug slipped right in.
I suppose everyone knows this little trick, but not me. A slow learner.
