Epson 4800 - Service Req 0001001D

2016-06-10 by mccarvill@...

I'm getting this error (and the printer literally grinds to a halt) on my 4800 whenever it’s about to begin a print job, or even do a nozzle check. It started off as an intermittent problem that would go away for a week or two after I turned the printer off and on, but now I can't print because of it.

I've tried the obvious and easy fixes first – e.g. there are no paper jams or debris, the carriage lock isn't engaged, etc. Still no luck.

Suggestions?

Hi,

It might be worth doing some searches on the web, Epson document it at

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?infoType=FAQ <http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?infoType=FAQ&oid=57105&foid=60050> &oid=57105&foid=60050 and it is mentioned by many others.

Most suggest it is a carriage movement or an encoder strip problem.

Cheers

For now, I've appeared to have solved the problem.

The printer shares a power bar with a floor lamp, which seemed to create an electrical surge or imbalance, especially when the printer was about to start a print job. Turning off the lamp before sending a print job allows the printer to work normally. Eventually, I'll find a dedicated wall socket for the printer.
