Can I use Epson 3800 M and LM cartridges in a 3880

Can I use Epson 3800 M and LM cartridges in a 3880

I have an Epson 3880 that I am going to use for dedicated black and white printing using Carbon-6 ink with refillable cartridges. The refillable cartridges need an original OEM chip from an Epson cartridge.

I found a full set of long-expired Epson 3800 cartridges. I know these chips would all work in my 3880 refillables, except for Magenta and Light Magenta (which are now Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta in the 3880).

Does anyone know for sure whether or not a 3880 would accept refillables with 3800 LM and M chips? This posting on another site says "yes", but every other posting I've read anywhere says "no".

The answer is "yes". I used chips from Epson OEM 3800 Magenta and Light Magenta carts and installed them in Inkowl refillable carts, which I then loaded into the Vivid Magenta and Vivid Light Magenta positions. Absolutely no problem.

The reason your Epson OEM 3800 M and LM carts don't work in an Epson 3880 printer is due to the shape of the carts; Epson uses physical blockers to prevent insertion of a 3800 M or LM cart into a 3880. It's not the chips that prevent this,.
