Digital BW, The Print

This probably belongs on another forum, but I'll give it a try here first.

I bought a used 9800 that has an accessory bolted onto it that is a bit of a mystery to me. (The seller was a third party who was not knowledgeable.) It appears it is/was a device that held some type or bar or additional guide for roll paper or other substrate. Images of the left half of the device are at

(The printer had been refurbished; all component life info was very good and it works great.)

Any guidance would be most appreciated.

It is part of a two sided paper printing accessory. I had one on my 9600 when I bought it from a print shop. They came out in the early 2000s and I just took the one on mine off.

The hex screws on mine were not held on by nuts. I had my printer apart and was able to see that they were clear to remove without issue. You may be as lucky but I make no promise.
