Arches 40 x 60 Cold Press 1114 lb paper

Arches 40 x 60 Cold Press 1114 lb paper

2014-01-16 by <roark.paul@...>

Has anyone ever printed on this paper with an Epson wide format printer? It appears to be thicker than the platen gap adjustments allow. At least one source indicates the widest gap adjustment is for 500 gsm paper. The poster board procedure must have a different way in which it protects the head, but I've never used that approach and don't know how it would work with this paper.

I would cut the paper down to 24" wide for my 7800.

Thanks,

Paul

Wow, 640gms? How does that compare to 1/4" plywood?

What weight Arches do you normally use? I have been using 300gsm with the R3000 & 3800 as it compares to the PA325 but the dmax has been poor - fighting to reach 1.4. This evening I remixed the inks in hopes of getting it right..

I usually use the 140 lb/300 gsm full sheets. Using Eboni MK and QTR, the highest dmax I've seen is 1.63 with an Epson 1400. However, each batch is different, and that dmax is not the norm. Usually I see about 1.56.

I think you may want to seek out the fine print on this material.... This paper is really not that thick ..The weight figure is based on a ream... so misleading.. It's actually designated as a 300# paper .. The material is pretty spendy.. (more then canvas) Typically about 1000 bucks for a ten pack... PLUS SHIPPING!! I think it's a case of size matters.. Anyway it has great tooth.. Even at 50 off that's still .10 per sq inch.. pretty stiff I'd say..

hello,

i got it from art lounge at mumbai the price per sheet was around 600 Rs for imperial size sheet and it came in a 5 sheet pack. the shipping was free complementary of the shopkeeper.
i have been researching about paper and the fact is that these re sellers have a huge margin. i have a friend here who bought 1000 sheets of fabriano artistico at 80% below the market price.

and papers like guarro cassa are also some time sold supper cheap. i along with arches got 44*70 size for Rs 188 and the paper is superb, i haven't yet printed digital on it but it does makes beautiful cyanotypes and very good for carbon transfers
