Yes, I think so.  In my 260 I have MIS K4 color inks, including Eboni.  You'll probably have to load your own.  Also, the profiles required for the MIS color pigments are substantially different than the Claria profiles.

If you don't print color, don't load them.

For black only the 1400 requires QTR.  In that case, the color won't be used.  The 1400 Epson driver can't do a black only.  It'll use the colors -- and not look good.

I think there are some on this list who just use Eboni in black only or 3-MK black only in the 1400 and then just load clear fluid into the other positions.  You can easily mix your own clear fluid.  See http://www.paulroark.com/BW-Info/Ink-Mixing.pdf  Even the simplest version would be fine for keeping the inkjet printer from drying out.
