My experience with un-coated papers is that to control the bleed, which turns into roughness in the midtones, the midtone ink limits have to be held way down. On the other hand, to get a good dmax the K limit is way up. The bleed there is hidden in the darkness of the tones. If an OEM driver gave me the ability to separately control the midtone and K ink limits, then I could print on uncoated paper with such a driver. Otherwise, I think a rip is needed for Arches and other uncoated stock. Paul www.PaulRoark.com
