Epson probably could not tell the difference. You can even rinse off the pads if you want. In an actually defective printer situation I had what they did is just ask me what the product numbers were on the carts. I read them the product #s off their carts. They said that as OK, ship the printer back *without the carts in it.* I did. They shipped a second new printer with another set of new carts. So, I ended up with 2 nice sets of Epson inks.
