Re: Epson 3800 alternatives?

2007-12-15 by zonepeter

Myron,

I have not had any problem getting most papers in 17" cut sizes. It
is pretty common.

To the best of my knowledge there are no 3rd party carts available
for the 3800, which makes 3rd party ink usage pretty difficult right
now. From what Jon Cone posted recently, it is the chip that is
presenting problems. I guess the new generation of chips is more
complex. So I would guess that the new 4880 will also be hard to
knock off. If using 3rd party inks is a high priority, I would look
at older printers like the 4800 that have 3rd party carts available.

With that said, I have a 3800 and it works great for me. It would
be nice for 3rd party support, but I am patient.

Peter
