It was unbelievably fast (especially compared to the Nikon 8000 I have at home). And Flexcolor 3.1 seems very easy to use even though I am not a very experienced scanner operator. I was getting pretty remarkable results from color negs (which we are going to have to coax out of the photographers shooting for the agency) using the canned profiles and a minimum of tweaking. The vendors we use currently drum scan everything, and the 848 results were clearly superior to what we had been receiving from them (whether the fault of the scanner or the operator, I don't know). Film grain was cleaner and sharper, tonal range was smoother and with fewer unpleasant color breaks--all whether from negs or prints. OK\ufffdI'll take this over to the other list. Thanks again Mark.
